An ancient three-headed post on the Rome side of the Ponte Fabricio, which connects the city to the Isola Tiberina, and then via the Ponte Cestio to Trastevere, a Roman neighborhood "Across the Tiber". The column head is at least from the early Roman period, if not Etruscan. This shot was taken in the morning, so the faces were backlit. The face forward is the best preserved of the three- the other two are all but blank.
