They really come alive printed this way - the scans from the negatives don't do them justice. And while you don't get the full impact by seeing the scan of the print, the actual print, in an 8-ply mat, all 2 1/4 x 4 1/4 inches of it, really stands out.
For whatever reason, these two strike harder for me than the colosseum shots. Maybe the higher key gives more detail queses. I have no trouble at all believing the print hits much harder.
Love how these three columns, isolated, rise in monolith in this composition. And i have pined after doing PT/PD printing for years now. I gotta sign up for one your workshops - shatter the fear!
@michaelorr Pt/Pd is actually pretty easy to get started in. The biggest challenges people have with the fundamentals are getting a good coating down, and making a good negative. If you have a good negative, and a well-applied emulsion, the rest is mechanical. Good coatings just take practice.
@HiHoSilver I'm a teacher at heart - my job is to explain these things to encourage people to do it themselves, not surround what I do with intimidating mumbo-jumbo out of some bizarre sense of self-importance. Platinum/Palladium has been around since the 1870s - I'd like to keep it around to the 2170s or longer... preserving a false mystique around it won't help.
