This is a neighbours backyard washing line, perfect for the swinging lens format for an effect.
I tilted the camera upwards slightly, ensured that the washing lines were off the centre of the lens axis, hit the button
Another novel one. This effect isn't possible anywhere except Australia where the lines of magnetic force curve everything and create a strange effect. The drawback is that you can never throw anything away there as it always comes back to you.
The proof of the essential magnetic lines as the magic ingredient was that my son brought back a boomerang but in the U.K, I had no luck in making it come back until I took the dog along.
If you are right handed, hold the boomerang with the flat surface away from your face. Have the wind/breeze coming at about 45 degrees from your left.
When you throw, release it with an action that will spin it and that it travels about head high, or slightly higher.
Depending on the energy of the throw it should stay straight, then will climb and tilt slightly, it is here that the wing lift effect kicks in and pulls the boomerang upwards and into a gentle arc. As the boomerang starts to drop, it should be almost half turned towards you. The dropping effect gives it the speed to return to you, more or less. This is often dictated by the prevailing breeze. You catch a boomerang with an exaggerated horizontal hand clapping action, ensuring that the boomerang is going to pass you by on your side, don't let it come directly towards you. You don't wish to know, how I know this.
Have another go!
