Guys, thanks for the compliments. This photo was taken soon after sunrise in Bryce Canyon. You can see the extreme texture (much better observed in the large prints or high resolution scan) from the side light that was rendered by the Schneider f5.6 120mm Super Symmar (very sharp lens) on Fujichrome Velvia 50. I took this photo of the Sentinel (which can be seen toward the rear of the image as the long "Hoodoo"). The Sentinel had actually partially collapsed since I believe Fred Hirschman had taken the image used for the National Park brochure. I wanted to take a new image as it appeared at the time. When I took this photo, I (only one with a view camera) and several others were waiting for the perfect light. A German tour group insisted on stopping and taking their photos as we were trying to take the photo. One of the other people waiting to take the photos spoke German and spoke to the Tour Guide about moving but they would not; they insisted that they were there for their tour and would move when they were ready. We had to wait till the Tour finished their "tour" and I was able to take this image.

The image contrasts the blue of the sky (primary color) against the orange (secondary color) of the rock and soil making for the striking "pop" in color.
