Well, this is about as good as this kind of photograph can get. Just plain excellent!

I went to your gallery to look at the other version, this is the better of the two. I think the viewpoint of the camera here, is better, the polariser effect isn't too strong. I find with 24mm, that a polariser can sometimes be a problem, by effecting only a very small portion of the image.

This is really something I would be proud of!

I like the colour as well, is this representative of the paper colour, or has the scan changed it somewhat?

Mick.

Thank you very much Mick and Jovo. I think the colour is pretty accurate(perhaps slightly too saturated). The lith developer made it very warm and the selenium toner made it more red, especially the shadows.

On a stright print the polarizer effect is quite a bit stronger in the middle but when I did my usual 1/3 stop burn of the edges I made a little extra on the sides of the sky which evened it out to some extent. I agree the viewpoint of this one is better than the other, at least when it comes to the foreground, however for this one I miss the road extending beyond the tree that I have in the other.

I call this one the second harvest, because I photographed the same location the previous year with a digitalcamera (yuck!). In 2004 I came back for a third version this time with medium format gear, unfortunately the crops were already harvested. This summer I had the ambition to do it again with my LF gear but I could not find the time. Perhaps I come back when there is snow.

How beautiful ! It's a perfectly balanced composition, carefully executed print.

This is a wonderful image. If you think it's a little too red, you might try some gold toner. It works from the highlights down with a slight blue tint. It can affect the lith very dramatically,

The sky is almost alive. If I was a lone walker here I'd be a little frightened of the army of clouds coming to get me. Very atmospheric
