I am big sucker for pictures of signs.
I have some Holga pix of San Jose signs too. Is that giant guy statue near Sunnyvale still around?
As far as cropping, I don't know. I only print with borders and neg marks. I think that makes it part of everything. I think if you ask 100 people how something should be cropped, you'll get 100 answers. I like it the way it is.
I love the look of the contact print with the outline of the film holder left in. Somehow feels more honest. I want to crop out the garbage dumpster but, that cuts out too much of the building. Maybe, move the dumpster either all in or, all out of the frame and reshoot?
Lee--the short answer is that it is a scanner artifact. I wasn't sure last night, this is only the second batch of 4x5's I have run through a rotary processor. I checked today and I can't see the streaks on the negatives. When I scan with the negatives rotated 90 degrees, the streaking rotates as well-->scanner! I will try to contact print these this weekend and see if the scanner does a better job on those or whether I need a new scanner.
thanks for the info I agree that it is a scanner artifact. It is in all of them just more evident in this one for me. If you cant see the streak in the contact print it is the scanner. I sorta agree with John on the top of the sign too. Keep up the good work.
