i really like this shot,my only thing is that the space before the first pilings draws my eye away from the center.but then again if that wasnt there i may not have explored the rest of the image and the pier on top as the center portion is almost hypnotic like a mirror looking into a mirror sort of way.very nice.
A stunning and very dynamic image. Some perfectionists might complain that the camera back might not have been 100% straight as there is evidence of a slight lean backwards. I like this as is though. The tonality, composition, and overall quality is there.
Tri, enjoy the "misty" feel that seems apparent in the middle of the composition and the surreal nature of the ocean. The only thing about the composition that feels off is the lack of white balance on the left side, created by the piers extended structure on that side. it takes what seems like a completely symmetrical image and throws it off balance composition-wise. Unsure whether or not this detracts or adds to the overall image. Just something I noticed.
Gentlements,
Thanks for your comments, as you see I decided to stay on the right of the pier because of the light coming from the R side. If I stay on the left then the picture will be reverse and the pilards highlight will be blocked .If I stay in the center then you will see the pilard right on front of you . As I recall ..this is the last light when I got there and the sun already set. Decision, decision which side should I take and got to move fast.Same as your thought, the composition question is always in my mind when I look at this, but again Art there is no rule right? Cheers,
