The Nest

The Nest

Hornets are the nice guys of all wasps, genarally speaking. Unlike the common plumcake wasps they don't bother you as you are sitting on the porch having coffee and some cake, as they prefer feeding on other insects mainly.
On the other hand it is unwise to come too close th their approach path, as my mother-in-law unfortuately did as she tried to fetch some gardening tool from the shed.
As I took the picture the nest was abandoned already so I was save then. For educational purposes it will remain there until next spring to give our nieces the chance to have a closer look when they come to the familys weekend lodge again.

This is a great shot. I don't care what you say though, I'd find a new pair of boots before I try to put these on.
