The Lower Owens River Project, November 2007

A cleared and burnt salt cedar area near the river. This will possible turn into a marsh-like area. There is water seeping up all over.

From the road there is no way to see the river. The few remaining cottonwoods are the only signs of the newly formed river. Here is one example http://www.apug.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=31742&ppuser=750

I just read the summary of this situation on your website. That's completely amazing - I never would have imagined such a thing could happen (reintroducing a river that had been diverted for city use). Very cool - I'll follow your project with some interest.
