The Ice Crack

Quite a lot of rear standart tilt to exhagerate perspective and put plane of sharp focus along the ice.
Split filter copied, with under the lens filters on a Durst L1200, with in 12 exposures in total. Seleniumtoned.

A dramatic composition indeed. The reflected light in the pool really adds to the image. The toning might have imparted too much colour for me - a straight intensification of the blacks would add the required punch and it's a shame about the tyre marks on the left - they even apeared to have driven up the ice. That said this is an image I'd be returning to again and again to play with the possibilities. Well seen!

when I saw this the frist words out of my mouth were" holy shit that is awsome" I bet this 16x20 would be outstanding or even bigger.

Good eye for finding such a nice naturally occuring ice ridge, and you made the best of it.

Great composition, I find the burning in on the edges a bit extreme for my taste, I like it a bit more subtle.

Extraordinary. Are the corners dark because of the view camera adjustments or were they burned in during printing?

Thank you all for the comments,

The tracks are from a snow-mobile. The corners, or rather the edges, are all burnt in during printing. Since the tilt adjustments were applied to the rear standard only the lens coverage is sufficient. The burnt edges are as some of you pointed out probably a litle bit on the heavy side and I still need some practise to get the transitions as smooth as they should be.

Thanks,

Richard
