The Chateau at Chateaudun

Like all the geometrical shapes going on here... Nice print.

I like this quite a lot. As my eye moves through the image, it is caught by the next element, which leads my eye elsewhere, thoughout the photograph, and then leads it back to the next element --- not all in straight lines either. This is a good one for me to study how the eye moves in what seems a random way, but isn't radom at all. That's the linear composition mostly - the tonality and light areas add to that in a nice way that gives eye relief at the same time as drawing my attention. Great detail, great tonality, very nice.

I am just plain stuned to see this photo here because I know this place very well, it's my birthplace ! (The town, not the Chateau ).

Nice photo and composition, moreover, and you made a very well balanced print. You render nicely the light and atmosphere at the Chateau.

The original negative was actually very flat apart from the burnt-out window area at left, so it needed lots of dodging and burning. Pre-flashing didn't seem to add any more detail.

Chateaudun was a charming place - spent the night at the campsite there on one of many holidays exploring France by bicycle.
