Gary, I like this image immensely. You've taken a number of things that might have bothered me and combined them to be very effective. For instance, in a different image the hands would bother me but here they contribute something very important. The same with the leaf on the left. Normally I would have found it distracting but it balances the walk nicely. Thanks for sharing. She almost looks like she's going to fly. . .
Thanks for your kind comments. The truth is that I was walking down the street, camera in hand, and she appeared. Just appeared. I said, "Please stop for a minute, may I photograph you?" She consented (looks barely the age of consent), and the photo was made. The whole encounter probably lasted 60 seconds. But she'll last within me forever.
Gary
Hi Gary. This is my favourite from your series. I particularly like her expression and the way her hands somehow complement it. I'm not sure whether she's laughing at a private joke, studying the mind behind the camera, or just a bit confused. Either way she's hypnotic. A beautiful moment well captured.
You made a comment on another of your photos: something about wanting to use a "dead-on" composition. This composition (coupled with the contrast between subject and background) really works well with this portrait.
