testing the darlot

My father is a packrat. In his attic I found a magic lantern projector with two lenses. At the time I had no idea the treasure that would soon be occupying my house instead of his. I just couldn't figure out why he would keep 'this old piece of junk in the attic' for 50 years - collecting dust. No wonder they call it the magic lantern. You just wipe off the dust and then the magic happens.

I really wanted to try out this lens in the woods. By the time I got all set up, I lost my light - the golden hour had turned into shadows very quickly. So I grabbed this shot, and didn't really have time to focus or set any movements. It only covers 4x5, but with no movements. Definitely worth learning to master this lens! What a treasure!
