Testing Russian 'Helios' lens

I have been testing 2 samples of Russian 'Helios 44-2 58mm f2' lens. First sample would not focus to Infinity. This is second one from different Russian Factory.

You could get that first one to focus to infinity by adjusting the screws at the helicoid. Assuming that this is the later (auto aperture) version, I think that this particular lens is able to be adjusted if you unscrew the logo ring, then remove the screws underneath, then loosen the screws holding the helicoid. I cannot quite remember if all I said is correct, but this is an easy lens to adjust, as are most normal focal length lenses. Somebody probably got it out of whack by fiddling with it, Pete.

I do not like the subject matter because, here in Philadelphia, this dangerous feat is done to terrify pedestrians. - David Lyga

both lenses are not 'auto-aperture' but 'preset' types. I agree about the dangerous practice -- these youngsters are well-known here in Brentwood for doing this both in the road and on the pavement as shown. I was just lucky they came past when they did.
