testing RUNER

hmm - I am in a text mode...

I have a weakness for the old nordic letters, called Runer.
I like them as graphic objects, as well as the fact, that i can write sentenses with them.

right now, I am reying to do the text in english, which is (silly) a challenge, as the letter "C" doesn't excist..

anyway - here is one from a series of "tired angels".

Painted with light. Negative ruined using cigarette ashes and other stuff....

text bleached in the negative...

the problem might be, whether the text takes too much attention.
you tell me...

Excellent as usual. For me the text works well within the image.

Being able to read it would certainly change my interpretation, though I have no way of knowing for better or worse...

an internet site that can "translate" into runer...

(if you hold the cursor ower the image, the text will show...)

This is beautiful. She looks like a tired angel, and the text gives it even more emotional depth.

I think knowing what it says and being able to read it are two very different things. If it were written in English it would have a totally different.... weight within the photograph for me. Again, I love it. Best. Shawn

I find it an interesting concept, and I love the amount of experimentation you indulge in, Emil. So much fresh air in here with you contributing.
However, I do find the runes slightly overbearing, stealing the limelight so to speak. Perhaps you can subdue them by using a semitransparent color in the writing so make them less pronounced.

thomas - I think you're right.
I would prefer the text to be a more suttle colour (lighter), but there you go...
I have bleached the text in the original negative, so I can't do anything about it now...

next time....

Sandwich. Sandwich a blank neg or some sort of transparency film for (ehhhrrrrmmm) d(&(+al negs, you can write what you want...
- Thomas

I know - but that is not my way...

I have to do the ruinings (incl txt) directly on the negative...

it has to hurt...otherwise it doeant matter....
