This is a wonderful study in texture, and space. I would have shot it more straight on, but I think you've created an interesting kind of abstract tension with the angle that is really effective. The photo gods were smiling when you found a black and white Vespa like that! One niggling criticism, I might crop the top just a tiny bit to remove what looks like the bottom of a window. Just a slight distraction. Well seen and done.
Wow!! What a marvelous 'found' study in composition with a treat in every quadrant. Texture, form, and incongruous pairings of the old, new and slightly ridiculous (the pipe) make this amusing, and visually rich. Bravo!
Thomas, this one works well for me. You could take the entire top off and still have a great shot. I also played with the two lower arches, still good compositions, each one stands alone. A large format enlargement shot would be amazing with this much texture. Might have paint flakes falling on the floor after a short time of hanging the print on a wall. Wonderful, and nicely done. tim
P.S. A block of concrete with a ball-head would do the job for a tripod on a windy day.
Great sceneThomas. Lot's of nice textures, contrasts are perfect OMM ( On my Monitor).. Is this a neg scan? If this is a print, I have had a similar effect of a greenish cast on Ilford MGIV FB, I see a sort of greenish cast here. I bet an ever-so-slightly warm toned print would be even more beautiful. Either way, I'm sure you are very happy with this shot, as I would be... it is superb! and as mentioned above - visually rich.
This reminds me of a modern version of the indian cliff dwellings in the SW USA. I really like everything about the print... the textures, the scooters and the great geometric shapes. Nice seeing!
Thanks to all of you for your interest. Victor, this is only a neg. scan. There are so many negatives I made during my stay in Italy that need to be printed. Hope to find the time to go into the darkroom soon. My paper of choice for this negative will be the Forte Polygrade Warmtone (FB), perhaps in a Moersch-Developer.
