Temperance Hall

A former Temperance Hall in Kirkby Stephen in Cumbria. Currently unoccupied, and picturesquely dilapidated, but recently purchased by a developer with an unknown new use in mind. I managed to to the facade because of a builder's van just out of shot to the right. Does it matter too much?

Hi

I seem to have lost some text in the description while uploading. I meant to say that I just about managed to control the verticals but couldn't quite get straight on to the facade due to a van just out of picture to the right.

How many things in life are truely viewed "straight-on" anyhow?

I think it's fine as-is. You got a better angle on that than I did on my last shoot in Harmony, California, population 18 (a one-half-street town). For some reason the day I decided to shoot the historical buildings there were more cars parked in front of them than inhabitants. I sat around for 30 minutes at least, waiting impatiently (noticeably irritated at the drivers who ignored the fact I had a tripod set up and waiting for one car to leave, while pulling up, seeing me and parking right in the way). I finally gave up on all but two buildings.

I really enjoy the texture of the building, the beautiful sheen of the highlights, and the building itself is pretty interesting!

Many thanks for taking the time to post comments guys - much appreciated. I know what you mean about parked cars - I waited nearly half an hour for the owner of this illegally parked van to come back and move it but he never turned up - sadly neither did a traffic warden!
