Taradale Church

Had lunch on the lee side, out of the wind, decided after eating, to check out the possibilities and liked what I saw. Waited a while for the clouds to be in the right place. It's an interesting building as it's been built on the cheap. The big stones are actually brick work covered in a concrete render, then made to look like sandstone with clever workmanship. Never seen that anywhere in the world, before.

Nice, but perspective distortions really disturb here drawing too muc attention out of otherwise dramatic atmosphere.
Perhaps a right time to swing for larger format (4x5) ? (the perfect tool to avoid such kind of optical distortions...)

Oh, I love this. I think the sky darkened by the filter, the subject matter and distortion from the lens work well. Spooky stuff!

Alex, John, I actually thought about whether or not, to distort the building. In the end I decided to distort, so I used the 18mm.

The print looks quite good, but I now have had time to evaluate it a bit and I'll be making a 12x16" in a couple of weeks with some dodging and burning, this is a straight print.

I only shot it last Sunday, this was my first version.

I love the perspective distortion. It gives the photo a lot of character that would be missing otherwise.

The church is pointing at the white cloud above it. Leave it alone It wants to look like that.
