A wonderfully balanced naturally found still life containing all manner of shapes, textures, angles and tones. Primarily a flat composition, it surprises further with an unexpected slice of depth which falls away from the viewer on the right edge. Added to the rest is that enigmatic white window pane, which also serves well to key the darker tones, and I think this works really well on a number of levels.

Of course, it also helps that I'm a bit of a sucker anyway for flat compositions that emphasize forms and textures. Don't know why that is. But I really do enjoy looking at this one. Very well seen in my book.

Very nice. Is it only me, or does the pattern on the tank seem to vibrate? I think it may be an interesting optical illusion, or I had one too many an espresso.
Actually it does! I have a close up of that tank...will print later.

Tony , nice print , question : is it a rain water tank ? do they re-use it like they did before plumbing?

Thanks Ilya, it is a rainwater tank for the days before water reticulation. This one is rusted and full of holes...no more water in here!
