Been playing with DIY studio lights and LF cameras. No experience, so just learning by error. Had just enough back light to give detail to hat and jumper. Wanted warm light like lit by a fire place. Picture is more warmer in tone. Hand a little out of focus, think it softens. Feel free to critique.
Good effort.
You might consider lighting this pose from the other (left) side. As is, i think it is his hand that is most lit and becomes more of the subject. A slightly darker, less lit hand would put more interest one his face.
A little more rim back light wouldn't hurt. Or a slightly lighter background tone or even a gradated one would help cause its all seems a little too dark and/or muddy back there.
As i said, good effort though IMHO

@rknewcomb Thanks Robert appreciate the feedback. Yes I need to increase the back light, the print is a little better defined, but still needs a bit more. I will find a better solution for a back drop. Hands a problem, was looking for a fireplace look, had a nice warm uv tanning lamp lighting the face. Thought slightly out of focus would tone it down a little. Food for thought, thanks again.
