Takin' it In

This is the first print from my new Zeiss Bob folder. (Yep, it's called the Bob 510/2, one of the early ones) I took it outside the Denver Public Library facing the new addition to the Denver Art Museum. I kind of like the look of the folks looking at the building, especially the one on the right.

Comments are welcome. This is an early print so I would love to hear ideas to make it stronger that I can take back to the darkroom with me.

I've ridden my unicycle up parts of this large, orange structure a few years ago while I was warming up to ride in the parade of lights. I like how you framed the people in the scuplture. The only criticism I have is that I don't a see a total black in this, but I imagine that is just the scan. I'm sure the final print will look nice.

I have a friend who calls it the crashed helecopter.

I purely got lucky with the framing. They were there, I was there and I shot it. I wasn't even 100% aware that they were framed that well, I was staring down into that little tiny viewfinder that this camera has (about 1/2" or less across) and just trying to do something showing the people, the artwork, and the new art museum contstruction. It was all I could do to get anything exposed.

As for the black, it is partially the scan and partially the print. The biggest problem I have is getting the people to be noticable. I need to go back and redo some things and getting better blacks will be one of them. I am also going to try dodging the people a little bit more.

Sounds scary riding a unicycle on that thing. I am glad we still have you with us!

Paul.
