Every firearm is ALWAYS loaded ... whether it really is, or not - no difference.
NEVER point a firearm at anything that you would not shoot. Eventually every firearm WILL go off when you do not want it to fire.
I am familiar with the Colt model 1911 and its derivatives. Yes, I KNOW about its three safeties. I don't even point the disassembled barrel, on the bench, at anything of importance.
If you wish to take a photograh like this, simple solution: use a mirror. Far better to risk shards of broken mirror.
The thing that most surprises me about a picture like this is the availability of fire arms that unfortunately seems to abound in much of the world. Here in the Netherlands, having a weapon is very uncommon, and personally, I wouldn't even know where to get one. OK, there are shooting clubs here in the Netherlands too, but now with compulsary military duty abolished here in the Netherlands, 99% of the population will luckily never touch a true weapon in their entire life.
A picture like this makes my feelings sway between two extremes, rejoice in our ignorant status as the peachful Teletubbies country with no weapons readily available to most people, and intense sadness that much of the world still thinks weapons will solve the human and social issues that abound.

i think it is an excellent photo. makes it feel like you are there....well kind of. the use of red really adds to the drama.
still very disturbing every time i look at it....brings back some frightening memories.
this is a view that most people do not get.....fortunately. i can tell you from experience that this is the only time you would want to have this view.
