Tajikistan

A few pictures from my stay in Tajikistan 05-07. This one depicts Buzkashi, a game involving men, horses and a slaughtered goat. Someone in this crowd is scoring a goal, but it is hard to see who.

Contrast should be this low, because of dust.

Wow, this reminds of the many 17-19th century painted "battle scenes" with horses and man stacked on to each other. It always seemed a bit exaggerated, but with this view, it really comes alive.

Thanks! I was standing on a small hill overlooking the playing field, and this was shot on my zoom, close to 200mm, which is partly why it looks so crowded.

I also walked down on the field at some games. It was quite a rush to see the men and horses galloping towards me, looking fierce and all. But those pics turned out blurry.

Great frenetic scene; I especially like the horse's expression, in the middle.

I think those "helmets" were originally issued by the Russian military to the tank crews. Very nicely done.
