Thanks for the kind words and welcome back from your shoot and trip to Australia and New Zealand. This image consists mainly of the the light subtle colors (purples, magentas and pastel pinks) of the sky and La Sal Mountains in the background as you have commented and the repetition of the rocks throughout the image primarily in the shadows. The last glint of light can be seen in the right corner of the foreground. A 3 stop Grad ND filter was required to make the image possible. The 24" x 30" photos are lovely and the soft light, and pastel colors contrasts well with my photo Dead Horse Point (which is the first or second most successful of my images): http://www.apug.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=14313&cat=500&ppuser=11550
