Early spring - with warm days and cold nights is perfect "sugaring season" as the maple trees give rise to sap each day. It is "tapped" to be boiled down into maple syrup (something like 50 gallons of sap to make 1 gallon of syrup!).
Most commercial operations use plastic/vinyl taps and tubes nowaday rather than this old time "tap and bucket" approach.
Our neighbors are more patient and still do things the traditional (i.e. analog?) way! Thank goodness.
