What looks like clouds is actually smoke and steam from the boiler.
I didn't notice those colors until you pointed them out. The pinks are from the scan but there is some purplish coloration although not as pronounced on the plate.
In hindsight, I should have waited another 10-15 minutes to take this. I was shooting into the sun in late afternoon, and I got in a hurry to shoot another view from a distance which turned out to be crap. I should have stayed at this location and I suspect I would have gotten more details in the smoke.
no no you did just fine ... this is a wonderful image .....I feel the energy and action in this view.... the plumb of steam and smoke are exciting and the tonal depth is profound ....
'excellent' , sums it up .....
I can tell that this is a terrific print. Any anomalies visible here are clearly only due to jpg artifacting. Next time you scan it save it as a higher quality jpg. That might clear it up.
I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work. This is a bold composition.
Unfortunately, cane grinding season ended yesterday. Otherwise, I'd go back this week and do more. After this shot, I had intended to do a horizontal but I inserted the plate in the vertical mode. Next year, well later this year, I'll revisit this.
