Thomas: I love the high key and texture of the photograph. It suits it perfectly. But I am confused by the sharp line that angles down and to the left from the model's hair. It seems unnatural in some way. And please explain to me what "halochrome" is.

Lady and gentlemen...
The halochrome is a toner that's available from Rockland Colloid. It replaces the blacks in the print with a silvery sheen. I did some experiments prior to this print, and discovered that it's utterly important to wash the print really really well after the bleaching. Or not... If you don't wash it thoroughly you will get streaks and artifacts in the print, and I managed to avoid it in later prints, but decided that it might work with this frame.
A word of warning: You need VERY good darkroom ventilation for this stuff. It stinks like concentrated selenium toner.
Suzanne - not a double exposure, although the negative sure seems like it got double the amount of light it needed... It's very dense.
Very cool Thomas.... Question, you say that Halochrome replaces the blacks with a silver sheen. Have you tried it on a lith print? I am wondering if it has some potential there?
Hi Andy, I have wondered the same myself... I do find that lith prints tone differently than normal prints. Eventually I'll get around to trying it. It's definitely on the roster of things to do. I wonder if I can get a strong enough black for it to work, though, as that is commonly the caveat with lith printing. When using Halochrome you want a print that's about 1/2 stop overexposed in the enlarger and developed normally. I suppose the lith print could be left in longer to achieve a similar effect.
