Struggle [lith]

Struggle [lith]

I printed this before and took it through some weird toning. It was hardly a controlled printing procedure, so I decided to re-print this. I decided to go with super grainy, to achieve an abstract quality and character, but also to make it more of a universal pose, interpreting the theme of struggle, rather than portraying one person's struggle and hard time.

I intend to explore this further as a theme. Some day. This is like planting seeds in my head in a way, and some day I'll try to grow it.

Thanks for looking, I hope you enjoy it.

Wow, beautiful. I love the abstract/impressionistic quality. It's good viewing from about 6ft then changes dramatically when you get closer. Very cool.

This is a keeper Thomas. Very well done and a perfect example of the potential benefits of grain and the importance of viewing distance. I love it.

It reminds me of a photo I took probably 30 years ago using 2475-Recording Film. Subject was an aircraft several thousand feet above me in a blank sky. I made a high contrast 20x24 print of a small corner of the 35mm negative. It was just noise until one backed away to about 6 feet from the print. Then, suddenly the airplane appeared. A similar effect is happening with your image but your subject matter and composition are many orders of magnitude more interesting.

This, my friend, is one of the most compelling nudes I've ever seen. It gives the slightest hint at the form of the body and it is truely beautiful. Well done.
