Strong Bond

This is a sad story. Last Friday, the 15th of May, I was tasked with photographing a horse named Doc. He lost one eye due to cancer in 2002, and was recently diagnosed with cancer in his second eye, and was put to rest Saturday the 16th of May.
He was a very friendly horse, curious, caring, and up to no good. He was 20 years old when he was put to sleep, a real shame.

This is one of the better frames from the shoot, showing the horse master grabbing on to his mane, like she probably did many times when she rode him bareback. I thought it would symbolize the strong bond that exists between the two, and I'd like to think that it continues that way, past his unfortunate passing.

I hope that my prints will be keepsakes to remember Doc by, to preserve his memory.

Thanks for looking,

- Thomas

Good job Thomas... the hands tell the story.

I can really empathize with this, not only as a photographer who knows a strong image when he sees one... but as a pet owner who has had to make the decision to put 2 beloved animals to sleep due to hopeless illness.

Thanks for a touching pair of images.

Beautiful images, and yes, they carry the story well.

Lovely and meaningful work, Thomas...

Wonderful work Thomas !
