Very good-so, how did you like HC-110? Depth of field looks narrow with the 80 lens and I'm surprised you got it this sharp...I probably wouldn't have but had you went to 125th of a second dof would have been more shallow at f4.

Hi Col. With my little 3cc syringe - squirting 2 full ones and one w/ 2ccs, I'm nervous about consistent mixing, but it seems quite easy to work with otherwise. With my more active agitation, I can make out text thru the highlight parts of the neg. I'm gonna try your less frenetic method & see if that makes the highlights more legible. 'True, the DOF on the 80 isn't huge, and believe me - only about 4/12 were particularly legible/sharp. This was the sharpest. I was standing about 2' from the subject, guessed at 3' focus w/ exposure already set. I'll keep you posted on the agitation change. Again, I appreciate your help.

On 120 film I use 10cc of HC-110 concentrate and 600ml of water(1:60). That works out pretty good for me. From the looks of the photo it looks like you focused on his glasses. When I once did portraits and used the Pentax 165 f2.8 LS lens I always set my strobes up to give f11 as I knew how shallow f2.8 would have been. It worked well. Even the 90mm lens had less dof than a standard 35mm camera would with a 50mm lens. The 90 or 105 lens is considered standard for the 6x7.

I sure find the reduced DOF pronounced w/ MF over 35. I can imagine it would be another significant learning curve to get the hang of the monster LF lens. Hand-held imposes its own constraint for available light. Want depth? Hope you like blur. 'Don't have a solution there. This shot was unfocused - part of an experiment to see if people's recommendation to scale-focus was a viable option. Here, I'm pleased, but the percentage was low for the roll. 'Largely because the distance is short. I was standing next to this man, getting ready to cross the street at the flea market. Maybe there are tricks to making scale-focusing work at short distance. 'Hope you & yours have a wonderful Christmas.

The subject seems to show disdain. I wonder if you spoke with him, told him something about yourself, gave him a print?
