Stranglehold

A not unknown phenomenon on a highland marsh. Many small spruce grow up in a group. At first it seems like a good idea, they protect each other from the elements. Later on not so much, and they start fighting it out for nutrients and sunlight, often as not killing one another, ending up a mangled mess like this.
