Stony Hill, Near Keld

A wet trudge across the upper part of Swaledale last winter. One out of only two or three shots taken that afternoon with Tri-X in the camera rated at 1600, hence the contrasty tonal range. Sky burnt in but not, I am afraid, that expertly! I have another neg. with slightly better sky but no walkers. How essential are they?

I like the walkers in the scene. Such a dramatic but somewhat desolate setting.

All the best,
Daniel

Thanks for all the kind words. I've printed the alternative version and the one here, with the people in, works much better. I've also printed a 16x12 version with a bit more burning in on the left hand side and with the barn held back a bit. Still can't quite master the sky though!
