Stone Patterns

I find macro landscape patterns (I've heard others describe these as 'intimate landscapes') the most difficult type of landscape to do, but they give me the greatest pleasure when they work. Often this has to do with a composition that has an internal 'logic' or 'balance', but which has not been 'doctored' by the photographer by moving stones etc. (my 'rules' for this type of work).

This is quite an old image, and I'm still undecided about whether it works or not?

I do not know whether it works for you or not, but it definitely works for me. I love texture and lines and this shot has both. Very well done! BTW... you are rapidly becoming one of my favorite photogs. You have a great eye!

Wonderful impact in this image. I also like the composition. There is a 'hook' coming from lower right corner, moving up through the center diagonally, and swinging back to the right hand side. I think that gives your image really nice flow and rhythm.
Gorgeous tones. If I was doing my work digitally with scanning or if I printed Ciba, I would use dr5 for sure.
