Actually, I believe the sunlight on the trunk was coming directly from above, but I liked the effect of the suggested reflection from the gravestone. The engraving on the stone faces the tree trunk, so my assumption was that the tree grew naturally from a "bird-planted" seed/acorn. The woman's husband, who predeceased her, is buried in the adjacent plot. Anyway, the situation leaves plenty of room for conjecture.
