Stella Doro Lily

Recruiting photo. My niece made this image in 2006 with my 4x5, on Polaroid PN55. Today, she is studying photography at Uni in Kentucky. The success of this technically imperfect photograph was the inspiration of another generation to take up film photography. I feel good about the outcome.

Perfect execution, great tonality (introducing the next gen) The image isn't bad either. 'Wish I had a few w/ that outcome.

I would have liked just a little more focus in the front green leaves and dewdrops but, in 2006, was my self still trying to learn my way around all the aspects of taking a photo. I put this up mostly from the memory jog of Sly's NEW55 photograph of the daisies (i think), which needs to be proudly hanging on a wall, throwing back to my one keeper PN55 negative, here. Results like this, though, kept me persistent with 4x5. I do like how the stamen and petals came out. The print scan washes out on the left - real print is nice.

Lovely photo ! What like the most is that the flower is surrounded by shapes that mimick the flower's outline, which stands out clearly among these areas.

Thanks Peter, another of those observations that i did not perceive in that way, but just happened. I did try to keep from merging the flower on the left into the main flower, and kept enough of the hydrangea leaf to not look too distracting. Wish i could be more predictable before composing in general, though.
