Stack Detail, Ahlstrom

Back in December I photographed some buildings in ruin on the property of the Ahlstrom company, a Swedish based company that produces paper goods in Mount Holly Springs, PA.

I had driven by the small buildings for years, but finally took a chance at photographing them on a Sunday when the plant was closed. In the building with a large brick stack I found this rather awesome furnace. Not sure exactly what it is, but to me it just screamed industry from another era. It was a rather damp wintery day and the rain was on and off. One of those wonderful days of photography you never forget.
