Saint Michael's Catholic Church - Weimar, TX.
It'd been a while since I went out to shoot churches for the Texas Church Project, so I used saturday as an excuse.
I also recently won a very lucky Ebay auction.
About a year ago I bought a 19" Goerz APO Artar to use on my 12x20. I tried it out for about 6 months and just never could seem to get a good negative from it. It was flat and the negatives seemed lifeless to me. So I wrote it off as not "fitting" my vision.
I've been longing for a 450mm+/- lens and just can't afford the "dream" lens of a 450mm Nikkor M. So I thought I'd give the Goerz another try. A fellow ULF photog had talked on and on about the wonderful images he was getting from the "red dot" version of the 19".
I put a bid on one a few weeks ago, and low and behold I won it for about $100. Woohoo.
This lens is GORGEOUS. holysh*te. I shot all 4 of my negs from the day with it. Just gorgeous. Lots of coverage (@ F64/90) and as contrasty as I could hope for in a lens.
