wow. not being terribly familiar with your work, keith- and having just looked through the gallery of your other images - I'd say you've hit a whole new level...! Kind of exquisite...! I don't use the word lightly, by the way...!

I like this, though a little burn on the upper left edge of the leaf would be nice.

Thanks Sparky, I appreciate your comments very much. If it's a new level then it's about time, I've been in a funk.

Eli, I agree, I have some dodge and burn to do next time around. Also, the print isn't quite flat yet so it didn't scan very well and I noticed some odd tonality toward the edges as a result.

Daniel, I grow vegetables mostly to photograph, not so much to eat

kind of reminds me of mapplethorpe a lot. Maybe look at some of his stuff... for me - it's about composition, texture, tonality and just, well, presence. I think using a slightly longer lens helps a lot in the composition department... just things i've noticed over the years...

Sparky, I am familiar with Mapplethorpe's floral work and I really appreciate that comment. Indeed my take on these subjects is to imagine the lines and curves as ideas in architecture and design. This particular subject reminded me immediately of a local pavilion, with its sweeping curves and panels. Keith, I like this. It's abstract enough that it makes the gourd interesting. Hard to tell what it actually is.
