Square Hole, Bombproof

Not quite sure what it was... a recess in the wall of the stairs down into the bombproof at Fort Foote. May have been to secure the door from inside?
Location
Fort Foote, Maryland
Equipment Used
Rolleiflex 2.8E Planar
Film & Developer
Kodak Tri-X, Pyrocat HD
These old installations fascinate me. Much of the functions of the features are lost to time but scream that there are stories they can tell. As with many of your Rollei shots, its almost tactile.

I love the tones and texture here. This series seems like a good example of black and white photography for the sheer joy of the medium - it just looks good in shades of grey.
