Can't remember exactly where this was in the Yorkshire Dales. Shot after everyone else had gone home after last Spring's UK APUG meeting. Gawd knows how this tree manages to survive and prosper, but it does: count the buds...
Nicely made Bob. Wonderful detail, especially the little highlights on some of the buds.
I don't know why but my eye keeps getting drawn to the wispy cloud which runs from the tree to the top left corner of the frame.
Well, I have to sort of agree with Andy about the wisp of cloud - it is a bit prominent, especially as it continues the line of a branch but I can't think of a sensible way to reduce it (that whole corner already gets 2/3rds of a stop dodge because the sun is just out of shot top right and that corner is much darker than the RHS if left to its own devices)...
Also the tree top: it just about makes it on to the print but the scanner crop lost the tip. But, I like the RHS: the weight of the dark cliffs balances the tree and adds to the desolation (my story, and I'm sticking to it!)...
Cheers, Bob.
Truth be told, this is 10 yards from a car park overlooking a nice little village (the name escapes me).
One clinging tree, rocks, luminous sky. Looks great but doesn't look like the U.K. Cactus woudn't be amiss here
What I think is a small break in the clouds on top border and left of centre has been cropped in a way that makes it look like a dark mark on the print.
I dont find the wispy cloud to bother me at all. Does not pull me eyea nd i had not noticed it until I read some of the other posts. My only comment is that I would print this on cooler paper, despite the sense of warmth with the sun backlighting the clouds. A cooler paper might be worth a try? I love PWT but find myself wanting a cooler image here. super shot!
