Thanks for the comments. This was the last shot taken at just after sunrise. A bit earlier it looked like there would be little or no reflection. Then in the warmer light the clouds covered the sun from behind (lost the opportunity for the image in the pink light). Finally, the clouds cleared and the Maroon Bells were lit with a great reflection. A few minutes later and the warmth was gone entirely and the light had gone too blue.
Brian,
As to using a Grad Neutral Density filter it can be done with some guesswork. First, what you want to do is only use Soft Grads since you do not totally know where the transition takes place when using a RF camera. You can approximate the position of the gradation if you know the composition. Since the camera is on a tripod, and if you know the composition, you can walk around to the front of the camera and approximate the position of the Grad. You may want to take several shots repositioning the filter. It pays to do some testing and estimating the correction for the exposure as well. Lee Filter has just come out with plates that are marked with white lines to assist in this. They replace those used on the front of the Foundation Kit. They also have a new holder and filters coming out in a new filter size specifically made for RF cameras; the white lines are marked on the front of the holder. I will probably get the replacement plates for my Foundation Kit. I was using a Cokin P size holder and I believe a Singh-Ray Soft ND Grad. You can draw lines on the front of a Cokin P holder as a guide as well. As with Lee white graduations, I would recommend white lines as well if you want to draw them on any holder. Rich
