Spring Growth, Kiskiminetas Valley

4x5 silver contact print

Made this weekend while exploring a new to me section of the Roaring Run Recreation Area.

I managed to scratch my better developed negative (I always expose 2) so I had to print this thing up at Grade 5 to get to a full scale. (Those little plants in the bottom right are jet black on the print.) I might selenium tone the negative and give it another go but overall I'm pretty happy with it.

Quite a beautiful result. I can imagine a large print would be splendid.

Beautiful texture.

Thank you very much fellows! =) The darkroom IS in action, john!

I would live with it... it looks great on my screen! You take a chance with your only neg getting it wet again.
That's a good point, Robert. (hope you're doing well!). I'm probably going to print it again, try jovo's suggestion and maybe a version with some simple tweaks, a paper with more contrast than MGIV FB (it's about all I have right now). But I will live with it for a time first. I'm quite happy with it as it is.

If you're talking about the black things at the tips of the branches of the foreground plants, I'm pretty sure that's either Staghorn Sumac or Woody Sumac.
Thanks, Steve! I checked them out and it is Staghorn Sumac. It's very common here and I never knew it's proper name (or I forgot it...).
