After much useless hand-wringing about choosing a more portable MF, the Ikonta is rather promising. A $20 Op-Tech pouch w/ a strap holds it about breast pocket level, leaving both hands free. My 1" sq x 1/2" selenium cell meter fits in there. It reads only in EV scale, which the Ikonta lacks, but by remembering a single EV value (@ iso 400, EV12 = 1/60 @ F8), I can follow the reciprocity path to other values. First roll was constistently about 1 - 1.3 stops underexposed, so I'll adjust accordingly. With no mirror to flop about, its utterly silent. To add frosting to the gravy, the Mrs. handed me a pristine Retina IIIc I'd coveted to go with it. 'Makes always having a camera with me alot easier.
'Was on the east side for a while myself. Back then, I thought - this is cool. San Fran w/out the freaks. Yeah, been a while. Now the bumper stickers here say 'keep Portland weird'. I think to myself - fear not. But PNW is a haven for alot of stuff - photo, outdoors, m/c riding. Beautiful landscape everywhere. 'Not the hot tip if 'gray' gets ya down.
