I appreciate this will not be impressive to North American/Canadian/Scandinavian/etc. viewers, but snow more than a foot deep is something of a rarity in suburban south London.

Yep! I just stuck a ruler into it immediately outside my back door - which is not the deepest point by a mile - and it's about 10 and a half inches deep.
I'll be heading out with camera at lunchtime. Time to remember how to meter properly for snow!
