I'm not sure if you are aware of this or not, but looking at some of your work here, you have a tendency/style that sort of features "destinations" or home. In fact in many like this one you visually block the viewer from going farther, as though you lead them here then tell them to stop, they have arrived. In many you have buildings or destinations for them to go to, which sort of offers comfort and journey's end, and going farther is not the goal. I find it interesting to look at bodies of work and try to see trends/styles in how the photographers thinks or feels. In your's I see the search or quest for comfort and home and not really for travel or pretty landscapes per se. You visually offer the viewer a place of rest or a weary traveler the long awaited feeling of almost being home. Even in this one the focal point is the little birdhouse or stylized building protected by the bushes.
Blansky, Thank you for "looking" and commenting; you have made my day! My intent when making photographs is to try to convey some sense of "place/space" and you seem to have "picked up" on this attempt. These are pictures of home. I find the landscape here in the Blue Ridge(eastern forest) challenging and finding images around our place (home) is a discipline that frustrates and occasionally rewards. Generating the "situational awareness" required to manage this "process" and to "see well" is my goal. Thanks again, J
