Whoam, nice details with the pebbles in the crossbeds. With 45s exposures, you managed well the highlights. As a geologist, I would say this is a river deposit (the other shot I hesitated with sand dunes).

thanks guys! Marksman, I saw no snakes but by the time I hauled my 8x10 and Ries down to the canyon in 90+ degree heat I didn't care about snakes anymore - it was cool and shady and no snake was gonna get in my way
