I made this on an outing with my good friend Bruce Cook this spring.
I usually shy away from including two distinct areas of tonality in an image but this time it was the cool feeling of the little cove of rocks set against the sun-baked bank on the other side of the creek that drew me to the scene.
The print has creamy highlights on those rocks with a hint of detail... hopefully it looks alright on your monitor. =)
Thanks, fellows. I exposed the shadows a little extra, developed to N-1 with highly dilute Rodinal and printed the base exposure with grade 3. I then did some selective burning with Grade 3 and Grade 1. I made a simple mask with a straight print to burn the top.
