Nice couple of prints Cheryl...but you have got to stop sneaking into the house and taking pics of me while I\'m asleep... . Never mind, don\'t think I was ever that small or that cute.
Hi Cheryl, this is my favourite of you last 3 postings. Gorgeous 'pose' composition and lighting. May I ask you what lighting you used and film speed/settings?
Thanks matie.
Thanks, all. Nicole, this is natural window light from a south-facing window. He is on the floor in a baby pillow covered with a fleece blanket, facing the window. I always use Tri-X, and I'm thinking this was somewhere around 1/250th @ f/4. Fred, it's the "new" Tri-X 400, rated at 400, and processed in Tmax dev -- my standard operating procedure.
Amazing once again Cheryl. I'm assuming you had the heat up a bit for this one eh? Did you need to do anything to diffuse the light? It sure doesn't seem to harsh from one particular side (something I struggle with while using windows for light). Pictures of newborns are a particular favorite of mine, probably because I know firsthand how difficult they are to get (all that sleeping and eating going on), and how fleeting those few precious days of infanthood are.
David, the closer the subject is to the window, the softer the light will be; in this case, the windows were really large letting in soft indirect light, and the subject very small, so no diffusion / reflection was needed. Since the baby was on the floor and the window was about 18" higher, the light was feathering softly across the baby.
Suzanne, between the two babies, I believe we had four "incidents" in an hour. LOL. You just have to expect that.
