Skunk Cabbage

Skunk Cabbage

Even though its cherry blossom season here in Japan, its also the time for Mizubasho. Known in English as Skunk Cabbage. Not sure why, doesnt smell bad nor does it look like a skunk. The scan is quite a bit darker than the actual print.

Any and all comments are welcome and appreciated!

Thanx.

Interesting. Apart from the foliage, which I assume is green, what effect did the yellow filter have ?

Thank you for all the comments.

Roy,

The flower is actually a little yellowish, so the filter probably helped lighten it up a little bit.

Paddy,

Thanks for the insight. Whenever I have gotten close to one of these plants I have never smelled anything bad. Though I know the smell of cooking cabbage, and it is rather unpleasant. (So is the taste!). But thanks for help, it makes sense now.

Thanks again!

Gary

I love the print, the tones, the lighting, and the execution. But that is quite possibly the weirdest shaped flower I've ever seen.

Must have been a challenge!
