Thank you, Clive, Dave, Ned, jp, Suzanne, JP, Totc, and k. Thanks for the link, k. Those are stunning paintings of stunning skies! It's not surprising that they would be so prominent in Dutch landscape that is flat like Florida. But, then there are the wonderful architectural elements that just don't exist here (or at least have not been discovered yet by me!)

It's not the flatness only; there is an interesting theory about the famous 17th century Dutch light and skies. The water surface of lakes and wetlands work like a lens in reflecting the light on the incoming clouds from the Northsea. http://www.holland.com/global/tourism/article/dutch-skies.htm
